The finance team of an UHNW family office in Palo Alto is seeking a dedicated and highly knowledgeable accountant to join their expanding team. As a Senior Accountant, this individual must demonstrate inherent financial acumen as well as exhibit developed leadership skills that will further strengthen the operational excellence of the department. Day to day functions of this role include but are not limited to, preparation of financial statements, detailed budgeting and forecast analysis, and working with colleagues to ensure the continued advancement of the organization’s fiscal position.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive the preparation of internal and external financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including the preparation of footnotes for multiple entities
Perform monthly closing procedures to produce financial statements in a timely manner, in direct accordance with US GAAP standards
Create, maintain, and use sophisticated, organized spreadsheets to calculate related journal entries and/or perform analysis
Execute in-depth analysis of financial statements, including subjective accounting areas that require strong analytical skills as a basis for reconciling differences and resolving issues
Apply strong GAAP and financial statement presentation acumen to identify and propose accounting treatment for standard and nonstandard transactions
Respond to, and prioritize, internal and external inquiries to successfully execute quarterly and annual financial statement audits
Oversee the development, maintenance, and improvement of the department’s standard operating procedures
Lead and support special projects as needed, assist fellow financial directors in system maintenance and implementations
Qualifications:
7+ years of accounting experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
CPA and managerial experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of the family office sector
Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skill set
Adherence to the utmost professionalism and discretion
